I don't like the idea of a quintessential Brooknerine, but Kristen Scott Thomas is kind of prototypical.
For Beatrice, I was thinking of the Baroness from The Sound of Music. But AB also mentions Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, which is kind of classic. I think Sherilyn Fenn might be able to do the job quite well.

Oh my dear...I've never known this adaptation existed. How thrilling it would be to see it. Now, I was quite uncertain about K Scott-Thomas as an actor until recently. I saw her two French films; Leaving and I've loved you so long, I was convinced that she could act. If you are going to choose an actress who is going to play AB's heroine, one does need a quality of maturity and inner stillness (showing sadness without crying and speaking), don't you agree? I was thinking a long the line of British actress Claire Bloom, Julie Christie, and so on. At the same time, her characters are incredibly suave and cultured (in that old traditional European or Parisian way)...so it's hard to find someone who can fit all of these pre-requisites.
As far as Elisabeth Schwarzkopf is concerned, she is the most radiant soprano. One thing that might be fascinating for you is that many years ago, AB was on BBC Radio 4 programme called Desert Island Disc, I believe she chose one of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf's songs on the programme. You might be interested to find out if you haven't already known about this.
Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, like AB, when it comes to singing, she is a perfectionist...everything has to be precise, phrasing, breathing, the tonality, the interpretation...all are very similar to AB's writings.
Please forgive mefor going on but I can't hide my natural exuberance for AB because I'm her genuine fan like you!
